About the Property and "The Shack"
Wendy’s parents bought the Finn Bay property back in 1960. There was a big house up on the slope of the hill, but it needed some repairs before they could move in, so. . . they brought the shack with them! Originally located on her grandparents' property 1/2 mile south, the shack was perched at the edge of the water. For a bunch of tough old Swedes, it was a relatively simple matter to skid it onto some floating logs and tow it over to Finn Bay and haul it out to its present location.
Wendy's family of 5 lived in the shack for a year while they fixed up the main house. For the next four decades the shack was home to countless friends and relatives needing somewhere to live for a month or two, a summer, a year. Eventually, time and the elements took their toll. The shack went from rustic to rough and morphed into a storage space. 2 years ago the roof started to leak. We had to decide: Rip it down or fix it up? A new roof led to a new floor, walls, kitchen, bathroom. . . .you know how it goes. It's now a gorgeous little cabin, but it just can't shake its family name - The Shack!
Wendy is a retired wharfinger and commercial fisherman. She's lived in Lund all her life and is still in awe of the beautiful scenery and endless parade of nature happening outside her front door.
Gordie is a retired carpenter. He was born in Vancouver and moved to this area in his 20’s. He's spent his life building houses in remote locations, always taking summers off to explore and enjoy the local coastline.
Winter vacations in Mexico and seasonal trips camping around BC and down the Washington-Oregon coast strengthen our appreciation for Lund. We love to travel, AND we love to come home!
